Hello, bookworms! I am FINALLY back! My exams got over and I am so glad to be back! I will be back to my regular posting schedule and today I will be sharing some books that I have read throughout my hiatus. I didn’t have much time during my exams, but I managed to read three books! I will be giving detailed reviews separately in my upcoming posts. I also watched One Of Us Is Lying series during long study holidays. I had studied thoroughly for my exams, but I read the books and watched the series during break time.
Books I Read.
I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
Such a cute and wholesome story! I felt like I was exploring Japan with the main character. I loved the grandparents in the story!
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides.
Rating: 5 out of 5.
I absolutely LOVED this book. I was guessing till the end until a huge plot twist shook me. The ending did not disappoint and all the dots connected at the end. I was up at 2 reading this book XD.
One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus.
Rating: 5 out of 5.
I watched the series first, then read the book. But, I liked the book better. It is very different from the series. Very addictive read, flew through it.
Series I Watched.
Rating: 3 out of 5.
When I watched the series before reading the book, It was 4/5 stars for me. But, when I read the book, the rating went down by one star because it is a bit different from the book. I don’t mind but, in the mystery itself, the sequence of things happening in the book and the series is different. I loved the casting. The flashbacks were a cool way to narrate the story character-wise considering the book has multiple perspectives.
How are you all doing? Let me know in the comments! I missed you guys and it’s good to be back! I have planned great content to post, so tune in for that! Happy Reading! Rabhya.
We readers need apps that will take care of our reading goals and will spoon feed us! I use the mentioned apps daily and it really helps me to keep track of my reading. Some apps will help to take care of the books you read monthly and yearly, while some will help to analyze your reading. Let’s dive into the apps that every reader should have!
This is the most known and used app that is found on every bookworm’s phone! Goodreads is a very useful app that helps you to keep track of the books that you read each month. It has a yearly reading challenge that helps to set a goal for reading the number of books for the year. There are also Giveaways for books in which you can take part (open for US and Canadian residents only). You can also follow your friends and chat with them in groups. It is a great app for organizing your read and want to read shelves for the year. They also have great newsletters, that recommend the best books based on your recent reads. Goodreads is a very useful app and I highly recommend this app to you all!
I discovered this app three months ago and I have fallen in love with this app! You just have to import your Goodreads data into this app and it will analyze your books. It makes pie charts and graphs that show the analysis of your reading. I have found this app very useful as it shows my moods of reading, the pace of reading, average rating and genre monthly and yearly! Highly recommended app!
This app is just awesome! You can read thousands of webcomics of any genre for free! Many creators publish their webcomic series on this platform. The comics have beautiful illustrations that will blow your mind. There is also music (sometimes) in a series to bring a good mood while reading. It is very addictive and I just cannot keep my phone down once I start a series. It has genres like Romance, Fantasy, Slice of Life, Comedy, Action, etc. I just love reading webcomics on Webtoon! Some best-recommended series to read on Webtoon:
Wattpad is a great app where you can read fanfiction and also write one! You can read romance stories, fanfictions and Wattpad books for free. It is a great platform to start your journey as a small author as you can write books and stories. People’s works have been published and also adapted to TV series too! Great platform to start writing and getting inspired!
I hope you found some new apps by reading this post. Let me know in the comments, some apps that you use daily as a reader. These apps have really helped me organize my reading goals, I hope they will be useful to you all as well! Happy Reading! Rabhya.
This book is about a mom named Tara, who has been publicly shamed by her husband. She spent her 17 years of life with her two children and her husband, but Tej publicly harassed her. Tara goes into trauma after the incident. Her sisters, Mala and Meeta are trying to bring her back. Tara decides to go to her real hometown, Punjab and explore her roots. The simple life and happy moments in the fields of Punjab bring a spark of hope to Tara. The story revolves around Tara finding her purpose and identity in the surroundings of her hometown. The struggles, the love of the people motivate her to find what she loves.
The writing in this book is beautiful. I loved how the main character Tara, is trying to come out of the problems. This book is set in Punjab and being a Punjabi I could relate so much to this book! It is like I found my roots through this book. I could get the feeling of Freedom that the main character was longing for. The author has explained the meaning of love in a very different manner. The relationship between the children and Tara was so surreal. This book has surely taught me how to stop predicting life and just go with the flow. I am so motivated with this book that how Tara came out of all the problems she faced. The biji touch and the traditional Punjabi culture hooked me up! There is always hope and love in this world and I am so happy that I read this book! This book has destroyed me and I can’t wait to read more books from this author! Happy Reading! – Rabhya
This book has nine stories that are about good and evil. The women in all the stories are facing some life problems and are dealing with their loved ones who have chosen to be devils. Every story has its own message to give. Even though it is a short book, but there was so much in those nine stories that kept me going ahead. Each story has a fusion of Indian traditional thinking with a modern touch. The characters in every story were so surreal and raw. I enjoyed exploring the evil and good side of the characters. The ending of every story gave me goosebumps and the starting of another made me emotional. It is a very inspiring book talking about the two sides of a human soul on earth. It has changed my perspective on life in different ways. I highly recommend When Devil Married God to you all!!
Hello, my fellow readers! Guess what, you took a resolution to read 100 books, but don’t know how to start? Well, that’s where I am here to help! You can still achieve reading 100 books in 11 months! I discovered and followed some tricks from starting of the year and I have currently read 17 books (including the busy and hectic mundane life)! Here are some tips and tricks to boost up your reading goals.
Start with Short Books!
I kick started the year by reading short books. Short books under 200 pages is a good confidence booster to achieve your reading goal. You can start with Graphic novels, middle-grade books and some comics. Here are some books I read in January:
Pro Tip: When you are reading short books under 200 pages, ensure that you are also reading a book above 250 pages, it will help you not to lose the habit of reading huge books! Example: As you can see I read 12 books in January, among them I read two books above 350 pages.
First Achieve 50 % of Your Goal!
If you are on Goodreads or any other read tracker platform, ensure that you first set the half of your actual goal! My goal for 2021 is 100 books, but as you can see that I have set the goal of 50. Doing this will not build pressure on your mind.
Don’t Take it Seriously!
Reading is something that gives calm to our mind and helps us to zone out of our hectic lives! Don’t take these challenges seriously. This is just a way to give self-satisfaction to yourself and it is not necessary to achieve the goal! Guess what, even I didn’t achieve my 2020 goal as I didn’t know how to go about it!
