My 2022 Year in Books!

Hello, everybody. Happy New Year! I hope 2023 will be a happy and healthy year for you. I was away from writing for a long time and I am sorry for my inactivity. Things are still hectic as my finals are nearing. I have planned many things for my blog, but I cannot implement them due to time constraints. I will be free in April from all my exams and studies, still, a long way to go But, I will try to stay in touch with my writing and you all in between.

My Goodreads Goal.

I had kept a goal of 50 books and I was able to read 45 books this year. I must say that I read quite a mixed bag this year. There are many books that I rated 4-5 stars and there were many with 2-3 ratings.

Some Stats:

As I mentioned in my posts this past year, my reading tastes are evolving. 2022 was an experimenting year for me. I kept exploring different genres. Some, I instantly fell in love with and others I won’t get back to again.

In 2022, I explored different genres like realistic fiction, translated books, non-fiction, memoirs, and even romance because it was so hyped up. Many disappointments and many favorites in the past year.

My Year In Books:

I will be reviewing and discussing some of the books that I loved in my upcoming posts. It feels good to be back. Thank you for always supporting me and reading my posts. All the comments mean a lot to me, thanks again! I want you all to tell me in the comments how many books did you read in 2022.
Happy Reading!
Rabhya.

Most Anticipated Book Releases Of 2022!

Hello, bookworms! 2021 is nearing the end, so it’s time to discuss some releases I am excited for in 2022!

The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Release Date: August 30th 2022

This is the final book in The Inheritance Games Series and I have been highly anticipating it since I read the second book. The first two books blew my mind and I am desperate to know how this story ends. The whole series is about a girl named Avery Grambs who has nothing and has plans for a better future. But, one fine day, billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why–or even who Tobias Hawthorne is. To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into a sprawling, secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, where every room bears the old man’s touch–and his love of puzzles, riddles, and codes. If you have read The Truly Devious series, then this trilogy is for you!

The Gifts That Bind Us by Caroline O’ Donoghue

Release Date: February 3rd 2022

When I read the first book, I did not expect to like it. But, it turned out to be an addictive and adventurous read. It is about a girl named Maeve whose life is a mess until she finds a pack of tarot cards in the chokey of her school. She starts drawing cards for students in her school, but when she draws a card for her ex-best friend Lily, she disappears. Now Maeve has to find her before Lily disappears forever. This is the second book and I am excited for this book to come out!

This Is Not The Real World by Anna Carey

Release Date: May 24th 2022

The first book surprised me! I did not expect the story would go in the other way and I did not see the huge plot twist coming! Jess Flynn is struggling with her life in the ’90s. Her overprotective parents cramping her social life and her younger sister’s worsening health, the only constant changes–and her hometown of Swickley, which feels smaller by the day. Swickley is getting weirder by the day, too. Half the population has been struck down by the mysterious flu. Conversations end awkwardly when Jess enters the room. And then one day, a tiny, sleek black device–with an apple logo on it–falls out of her best friend’s backpack and lands at Jess’s feet.

These Deadly Games by Diana Urban

Release Date: February 1st 2022

I have read the debut novel by this author and I enjoyed it. Although there were some things I didn’t like, overall it was a solid read. I have the ARC of this book, so I will pick this up soon.

When Crystal Donavan gets a message on a mysterious app with a video of her little sister gagged and bound, she agrees to play the kidnapper’s game. At first, they make her complete bizarre tasks: steal a test and stuff it in a locker, bake brownies, make a prank call. But then Crystal realizes each task is meant to hurt—and kill—her friends, one by one. But if she refuses to play, the kidnapper will kill her sister. Is someone trying to take her team out of the running for a gaming tournament? Or have they uncovered a secret from their past, and wants them to pay for what they did…
The summary is so intriguing, so excited to pick this one up!

Family Of Liars by E. Lockhart

Release Date: May 3rd 2022

Oh. My. God. While writing this post, I found out that We Were Liars is getting a prequel! I LOVED We Were Liars!

Summary Of Family Of Liars:
A windswept private island off the coast of Massachusetts.
A hungry ocean, churning with secrets and sorrow.
A fiery, addicted heiress. An irresistible, unpredictable boy.
A summer of unforgivable betrayal and terrible mistakes.

Rivals by Katharine McGee

Release Date: May 31st 2022

Even though I haven’t read the second book yet, but the first book was enough to grip me to this trilogy! The first book was filled with royal family drama and I enjoyed it! Eagerly waiting for this one to come out!

Maureen Johnson mentioned in her newsletter that she is coming up with a new Stevie Bell mystery in 2022. I will be waiting desperately for the book to come out!

I hope 2022 will be a great reading year for you! Happy new year and I will be back soon with another post!
Happy Reading!

End Of The Year Updates!

Hello bookish people! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you! Sorry for my absence, I have been super busy with stuff lately. But, from 2022, I will be back with consistent posting! Today I will be sharing some end of the year updates. 2021 was an exploration reading year for me. I read and explored genres, tried new bookish things and enjoyed a lot while blogging!

How Many Books Did I Read In 2021?

So, I had kept a goal of 100 books, but I couldn’t accomplish it this year. But that’s okay because I had kept it for myself, so better luck next time! Maybe by the end of the year, I’ll probably finish two more books.

Best Books I Read In 2021!

I read many five star books this year! My favourite book of the year was White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson and my favourite series of the year was Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson!

Average Books I Read In 2021.

These books were not bad. At some point, I was enjoying them, but in some, the ending was not up to the mark. While in others, addition to a particular trope in between of the story ruined the whole thing. Hence these were average reads for me.

DNF’ed Books.

From what I have heard, these books are loved by readers. I gave The Astonishing Colour Of After by Emily X.R. Pan a lot of chances and after 8 months, I decided to DNF it. The writing style was beautiful, but I picked up that book at the wrong phase so it started to affect me.
On the other hand, I was not at all invested in A Song Of Wraiths And Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown and We Are Okay by Nina Lacour, so after a point, they went into the DNF Zone.

Audiobooks I Listened To In 2021.

Funny story: I fell asleep while listening to Daisy Jones & The Six and missed two hours of the story. And I am too lazy to go back now XD. But, the narration of this book was top notch! Coming to The Voting Booth, It was a cute contemporary story set in a day. It was fun listening to the voting adventures and chaos between the characters!

What Is My Reading Goal For 2022?

I will be keeping a goal of 50 books in 2022! This is a laid back reading year for me, I may end up reading more books too, so let’s see how 2022 goes!

I will be posting my anticipated books for 2022 soon and also post some of my reading and blogging goals! Thank you for always supporting my blog, I love all of you! Have a great Christmas and a new year! I hope 2022 will be the best year for all of you!
Happy Reading!
Rabhya.
