Coraline by Neil Gaiman.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

This book is about a girl named Coraline Jones, who loves to explore, and as she has shifted to a new home with her parents, so the little girl keeps exploring the house. In that house, lives two old aunts and one crazy man with a rat. As Coraline is exploring the house, she finds out an old door and when she opens the door, at first she finds a brick layering. But, the next time, when her parents disappear, she opens that door and sees that there is no brick layering and the pathway is pitch black. When she goes through that door, she finds a different world of humans looking just like her parents, but have black button eyes and are horrifying. Coraline has to find her real parents and go through creepy things.

First of all, this book is for middle graders (8-12). But, the book is so creepy and horrifying that, I suggest the children should not read this book. It was creepy, spooky and the plot was also good. But, as it is an illustrated story, the illustrations didn’t do it for me at all. The illustrations were not bringing any effect or difference in the story according to me. It is creepy and perfect for Halloween, but I was late to the party (as always)! If you have read this book, what are your thoughts on it? Tell me in the comments.
