HOW TO READ SHADOWHUNTER CHRONICLES?

Guess what? You brought a giant set of Shadowhunter chronicles and don’t know where to start? Well that’s where I jump in with this post to save the day! For those who have already started with the shadowhunter chronicles and picked up a different book. Don’t worry. Its totally fine if you start with any book but ensure that you don’t get spoiled. So, there are many reading orders for this series. Some are given by the author, some are made up by the readers which is still used. So, here are some reading orders:

#1 PUBLICATION ORDER:

Cassandra Clare has recommended the reading order. This reading order will help you experience the whole shadowhunter chronicles the way it was written in a chronological order. Here is the reading order:

WHY NOVELLAS ARE IMPORTANT!

There are three novellas in the shadowhunter chronicles. The Bane Chronicles, Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy & Ghosts Of The Shadow Market. I am not saying that it is compulsory to read the novellas. But, the novellas bind up the whole shadowhunter chronicles. They completely immerse you in the story and tell in depth about the shadowhunter chronicles. So, it is totally on you if you want to read or skip the novellas. No pressure!

WHAT ARE SHADOWHUNTERS ?

Shadowhunters are the hybrids of Humans and angels. They protect the human world from the demon world. Shadowhunters are also known as Nephilim. This series is a Urban fantasy written by Cassandra Clare.

There are total 19 books in the Shadowhunter Chronicles (as of 2020). Cassandra Clare plans to publish more 6 books in the future. There are total 6 series in the whole shadowhunter chronicles which comprises of:

The mortal instruments is the beginning of the whole shadowhunter chronicles. There are many orders to read the whole shadowhunter chronicles, but the mortal instruments is all where it starts. The infernal devices is a prequel to the mortal instruments. It occurs in the year 1878. The story is revolving around the ancestors of the characters in the mortal instruments. TID is set in London, England. Here is a list of TID books:

THE DARK ARTIFICES (3 books):

The dark artifices is set in Los Angeles. This series is after the mortal instruments series. The story is revolving around the scared bond of parabatai (pair of Nephilim warriors who fight together as lifelong partners, bound together by oath, regardless of their gender.) THE LAST HOURS (3 books):

The last hours is set in London and Paris in the year of 1903. This series is after the infernal devices, but happens before the mortal instruments. THE ELDEST CURSES (3 books):

The eldest curses is set in the year 2012. The story is revolving around two characters from the mortal instruments, they have started dating and we get to know some untouched secrets which will not be there in any other series of shadowhunter chronicles. THE WICKED POWERS:

The wicked powers is the ultimate ending of the shadowhunter chronicles. The name of the books are not revealed yet. This series is whole ending of the shadowhunter chronicles.

The best thing about Cassie Clare’s writing is that she always writes in depth and you totally get immersed in the story. She explains every minute detail in the story and here there are three different novellas (not in series) which have bounded the shadowhunter chronicles. Charli and Dixie D’amelio are sisters and are famous tiktokers and youtubers. They share their life experiences as teenagers. reach out problems faced by every teenager on social media They just started with this podcast and I loved the way they are sharing their daily experiences and stories.

Not Overthinking by Ali & Taimur Abdaal:

They are brothers who talk about social interaction, lifestyle design and mental models. Personally I enjoy listening to Abdaal brothers. They talk about what’s going on in their mind and really love how they are weirdly practical. Highly recommended!

The Michelle Obama Podcast:

Michelle Obama is an inspiration for me. She talks about relationship between her loved ones, family, friends being a First Lady. I really loved the way she expresses her love for her family and talks about incidents in the past. It is very interesting to hear her talk about the present problems faced by the world, how she encourages to be bold and positive. Highly recommended!

Chemical Hearts:

This is a book to movie adaptation of Our Chemical Hearts. I recently watched this movie and I was very touched by it. In this post you will read about my review and thoughts about the challenges faced by teenagers when they reach a phase between childhood and adulthood.

Grace Town is mentally disturbed because of a heartbreaking secret. On the other hand Henry page who can only express himself by writing meets grace for school paper magazine. They start hanging out and get to know about each other, Henry finds out Grace’s heartbreaking secret and supports her.

Teenage Limbo: This movie highlighted about the mental health of the teenagers. Being a teenager, I could totally relate. When a person reaches a phase between childhood and adulthood, he/she goes through a lot. Making right decisions, handling hate by people and tackling everything going in their mind. It is hard to be a teenager, especially in these times.

Going through this phase is difficult, but keeping your mind positive and keep thinking that we have to battle every phase with happiness and remove all the chemicals from our minds.

TV Shows I Watched During This Pandemic:

I only watched two shows because I’m not a TV person. But here is my Review on these two TV shows. Let me know in the comments if you have watched them and what were your opinions on them!

Never Have I Ever:

This show started this year and I absolutely loved this show. I binged watched the season 1 in a day. Being an Indian, I could totally relate to Devi’s weird nerd character. Even though the whole show is comedy, but it has highlighted on some important topics like trans women’s rights, bullies,etc. I gave this show a 5/5 stars. Highly recommended!

Shadowhunters:

I have literally have watched this show four times now and I never got tired of it. This is a book series to tv show adaptation and it has 3 seasons. I am so attached to the characters in the show. This show is packed with action, romance and friendship. I have started reading the series and I am loving it as well. I also gave this show a 5/5 stars. Highly recommended!
